About

I’m Rin, and I travel roads from start to finish. I don’t follow interstates or bypasses to get where I’m going fast, but rather I like to take the small state routes that rarely see more than 20 cars a day. These forgotten roads, in my opinion, are the best way to explore the world.

I grew up moving between a populated Boston suburb and the deep forests of rural Downeast Maine. This dichotomy led to a near equal appreciation for the convenience of city living and the community of small-town New England. But most importantly, it gave me an appreciation for the ways to get from one to the other. Most may look at the route from Boston to Bangor and just assume to take I-95, the quickest route between. But in the many times I’ve taken this journey, I keep it fresh by finding a new route every time. I’ve taken Route 1 the whole way, gotten off on 202 through Lewiston, taken 3 to the coast, or even driven as close as possible to the New Hampshire coastline for the length of the state. I’ve seen a lot of New England that most people haven’t by traveling this way.

Through One Road, I hope to convince you that this style of travel can be one of the simplest yet most rewarding in terms of experience. You’ll see sights that range from forgotten parks to unique vistas that no one has ever taken the time to appreciate. You’ll drive stretches that are wholly unknown to the world outside of the small number of daily commuters who pass through. You’ll get an idea of the hyper-regionalized cultures that surround rural countrysides and city suburbs alike.

There’s always something new to find.

I’m Rin. I chase experiences. This is where I’ve been.
